The Overview
Ventura Foods is a large, private food manufacturer behind the mission "Building Extraordinary Together." They manufacture edible oils, shortenings, sauces, dressings, margarines, and other food products for customers like Costco, Chipotle, and Chick-fil-A. This Senior Director of Cost Accounting role is based in Irvine, CA and oversees cost accuracy, compliance, and strategic insight across 14 plants nationwide. The position reports to the VP of Finance & Accounting.
The Role
This isn't a maintenance role — it's a transformation role. The cost accounting function isn't fully built yet, and you have the autonomy to design and implement robust processes, streamline operations, and prepare the entire function for a future-state technology landscape including an upcoming ERP implementation (Project Elevate). Key responsibilities include: standard cost development and maintenance, variance analysis, commodities accounting compliance, systems and process transformation, and cross-functional collaboration on cost optimization and profitability initiatives across all 14 plants.

Your Team
You will lead a dedicated team of 7 remote professionals: two Managers (a Commodities Accounting Manager and Cost Accounting Managers) and several Analysts. Your goal is to foster their development and ensure best practices are implemented across all levels.
Systems & ERP
Current tools include JDE and AS400/Excel models. The company is transitioning to a modern technological environment through Project Elevate (Oracle). Process transformation — envisioning the future state and helping the team navigate the implementation — is a core part of this role.
Travel & Remote
Hybrid remote schedule based in Irvine, CA. Up to 10% domestic travel.
